Styrofoam is quite a good material for carving with. it can be carved using a hot wire or heated tool, sanded to shape, cut to shape with a band saw or cut with a knife. This skull was cut out of a styrofoam block, coated in jesmonite, then painted with a pigmented acrylic resin.
